April 2012 Eblast

Welcome to MHOAA’s April 2012 Eblast.  Please consider forwarding the Elbast to all members of your home owners’ association and other interested individuals.  I also encourage you to reprint these Eblasts in your home owners’ association’s newsletter.

Take Action! – MHOAA staff and board members are involved in several exciting projects with one of our national partners, the Center for Community Change (CCC).  If you have not already done so, please sign the on-line petition that was sent out last week – we need as many signatures as possible so please forward the email to everyone on your email list, encourage them to sign the petition and ask them to forward it to as many others as possible.  On-line petitions really work! Here is the link to the on-line petition:

Additionally, MHOAA and CCC are also circulating a blog about conditions in senior manufactured housing communities owned by Equity LifeStyle Properties.  Here is the link: http://www.joinchangenation.org/blog/post/retirement-security-conscious-seniors-choose-manufactured-homes

Again, please forward this to as many people as you can, since this link also includes a link to MHOAA’s webpage.

SAVE THE DATE – MHOAA will host its Annual Convention at the Holiday Inn, in Virginia, on November 8-10.  The event will start with a reception on the Thursday evening and end with MHOAA’s Annual Meeting on the afternoon of Saturday November 10.  We hope to have a great turnout of members again this year.  You can get a jump start on this by calling the Holiday Inn at: 1.800465.4329 or on-line at: http://www.holidayinn.com/redirect?path=hd&brandCode=hi&localeCode=en&regionCode=1&hotelCode=WASDC&_PMID=99801505&GPC=MHO

to reserve your room ($119 + tax/night/single or $129 + tax/night/double occupancy and includes complimentary hot buffet breakfast.)

There will be a lot more information about the Convention in future Eblasts and future editions of “MHOAA Across America.”

Be sure to keep your membership in MHOAA current so that you are eligible to receive all these communications.

iGive – MHOAA is registered with the “I Give” program which means that if you sign up for the program and you make transactions via the internet, there are thousands of businesses which will then make a % donation to MHOAA.  The Holiday Inn is one such business.  Please join the iGive program before you book your hotel room on-line.  Lots of other main stream businesses donate too – it is easy to join iGive and by doing so you allow businesses to donate to MHOAA.  Find out more here http://support.igive.com/KB/a115/how-igive-works.aspx and here: http://www.igive.com/MHOAA

Thanks CFED – CFED, another of MHOAA’s national partners, has updated their Manufactured Housing Advocacy Toolkit.  To find the latest information please go to http://support.igive.com/KB/a115/how-igive-works.aspx

Last word for April – Congratulations to the Golden State Manufactured Home Owners’ League (GSMOL) for a very successful 50th Anniversary Convention, held in Sacramento, April 13-15. I had the pleasure of being invited to this event and it was real joy to meet so many active volunteers, working on a variety of issues relevant to manufactured home owners.  Keep up the great work, GSMOL!
