MHOAA Conference Call Minutes
February 13, 2012
The meeting was called to order at 7:05 p.m.
A Roll Call was taken. There were 7 present.
Consent
A motion was made to accept the Consent Agenda with the exception of the treasurer’s report which was not available at this time due to e-mail difficulties and seconded. The vote was unanimous.
Old Business
Our Executive Director gave a testimony Wednesday, February 1st before the Subcommittee on Insurance, Housing and Community Opportunity titled “Implementation of the Manufactured Housing Improvement Act of 2000.”
New Business
Highlights of the treasurer’s report were given and stated that it would be forwarded to everyone as soon as possible. It was requested that the acceptance of the treasurer’s report be tabled until the March meeting.
Our Executive Director would be recommending that HUD incorporate the language below as a new item in § 92.253 of the existing regulations, which governs tenant and participant protections. Some highlights are,
- The operator shall not prohibit or unreasonably restrict free movement, speech, assembly and association within a manufactured housing community.
- An operator shall not restrict or prohibit residents from meeting peacefully for any lawful purpose, nor restrict or prohibit the presence of any public official or representative of a manufactured homeowners’ organization.
She will be submitting a letter from MHOAA with the same language included.
